i have heard that if the human brain uses even 50% of it's total capacity we can do some amazing things like even levitate with the power of will and even move objects with the power of will..is this possible or is it just a myth? please answer=)Is it true that the human brain only uses 10% of its total capacity?
The ';only ten percent'; thing comes from the fact that we're only using a somewhat small percent of our brain at any single moment. This doesn't necessarily mean that we aren't using everything we've got because the brain is compartmentalized. We don't need it all at once because we aren't doing the thousands of things we're capable of all at the same time. Various different parts are tasked with different actions. One part is for creative thought while another is for processing memory. Still others handle various motor functions. We tend to think of brain power in terms of a total percentage of potential, when in fact it's a very large number of smaller parts adding up to a whole. In fact, the most amazing thing about the brain is how much of it is actually just memories and self regulation. There's a lot going on in the background that we're not even aware of. Basically, at any moment we're using only what we need. Some people may be wired up a little differently, resulting in more power being available for certain tasks but this seems to result in deficiencies elsewhere. For instance, many geniuses in history have been described as amazingly awkward socially. Others have had sub-standard physical coordination. This seems to be a result of the brain allocating too much to one task at the expense of others. As far as psychokinesis and such, I doubt it is possible. If it were, we'd probably see a lot more of it given the fact that there are seven BILLION people in the world. I can't think of many physical abnormalities or specialties that are as rare as a few in a billion.Is it true that the human brain only uses 10% of its total capacity?

Dude, don't believe everything you hear. It's likely a myth, because there's no scientific evidence for that. Just because it can happen in comic books, doesn't mean it'll happen in real life.

I think that nostalgia is an idealization of the past. We don't remember things the way they were but as we want them to be. The very word ';nostalgia'; means that. The ';good old days'; may not have been so good. It's very subjective. When we remember the past we remember them through the filter of the present. Depends entirely upon the impact of the nostalgic thought as compared to current experience.

While it is the 'official teaching' of the Catholic Church, the majority of American Catholics believe in some form of birth control and many use condoms or such on a regular basis. The old fashioned idea that sex is only for procreation is not in 'vogue' much any more. I think many American Catholics are coming to the realization that many of the 'laws' of the Church are outdated. This does not mean they believe in sex outside of marriage, but they also know that condoms, especially, do more than stop pregnancy, but also protect against AIDS and other STDs. More and more Catholic couples also wish to wait to have children and so employ some method of artificial birth control. Yeah - it's true. But for some reason they seem to think the withdrawal method's ok but anal sex or masturbation are wrong...I don't get that - that smacks of hypocrisy.

I would say the majority disagree with that particular teaching and follow their own consciences accordingly. As for sex outside of marriage, a serious sin is a serious sin so throwing on the condom makes no difference in the light of things.

If you never do anything at all, then you need very little memory. Of course, you could never change your mind and actually use the computer.

I happen to be a Christian preacher and I don't use any neurolinguistic or any other programming - I even hardly know what it is. Neither it is used by any Christian preacher I know of. It may be used in some cults, though.
