Is it true that the US uses 2/3 of the world's natural resources?

their population is 300 million (5% of global)Is it true that the US uses 2/3 of the world's natural resources?
Haven't heard anything like that before. It is known however that the US contains 5% of the world's population and yet emits 25% of the world's green house gases. Too bad for all those who have to suffer from rising sea levels (those poor people in Tuvalu!) whose causes can be attributed to us

btw- Did you know the US ranks as the 27th (i think that's the #...) most environmentally responsible country in the world. Not too good in my opinion (though it beats the 38 we are for health care)Is it true that the US uses 2/3 of the world's natural resources?
I am not sure about 2/3, but they consume a vast majority.
No, unbelievable.
You might find the following maps interesting. They show the world not as land masses but as representative of whatever they are showing in each map, such as fuel imports, exports, etc. It makes for interesting visualisation of the relative scales of these different factors in world usage. Other info accompanies each map.

Their site explains it all. I'll let you draw your own conclusions and why they don't want to ratify Kyoto in America.
Don't believe so, I'm sure China can't be too far behind...but it wouldn't surprise me reguardless.
No, it's not, but we do produce 25% of the worlds polution.
