Nope, some routers just slow things down. Im assuming you meant because you can open ports? No, dont bother.

you either have a modem with a hub (2 devices), a modem with a switch (2 devices), or a router (1 device).
both switch type devices are faster than a hub, if your internet is connected to multiple computers.
