What is the true meaning of ';using God's name in vain';?

It seems that most people interpret it as not cursing and saying God at the same time. However, the real use of God's name in vain is advancing one's own agenda under the pretext of ';it's what God wants';. Is this a better interpretation?What is the true meaning of ';using God's name in vain';?
To begin with Christians have it wrong...God's 'name' was Yahweh or Jehovah. I have heard christians say 'gods last name is not dammit'...well I always answer 'no and his first name is not god either'....What is the true meaning of ';using God's name in vain';?
Like saying OMG,that is using God's Name in vain,or obviously using God's Name as a curse word,or saying God's green earth,that also is using God's Name in vain.
DISRESPECT! Of the Creator.

It's a different iterpretation, but I'm not sure if I'd

call it a ';better'; one. Using God's name ';in vain';

means misrepresentation of His name; and that

would mainly apply to using the name of God in

a profane manner.
Disrespecting GOD and the things of GOD for your own use.
